The following is a list of prohibited materials that Central Jersey Recycling cannot accept at its facilities. Any prohibited material in your scrap metal may result in the rejection of your load.
  • PCBs and capacitors
  • Closed containers, including unapproved drums
  • Pressurized containers, including post-consumer aerosol cans
  • CFCs and HCFCs
  • Whole or broken batteries within ferrous loads
  • Television or computer monitors
  • No scrap materials with HAZMAT or RADIOACTIVE markings
  • Any free-flowing liquid or solid wastes
  • Any combustible, flammable, or explosive materials
  • Lighting ballast
  • Radioactive materials
  • Mercury (switches)
  • Firearms and munitions (except by prior agreement)
  • Fluid drained from all components
  • Car transmission / motors 
  • Stainless steel kegs
